The rain, the flooding, the lack of support. Three years, four winters, more than this. Tents are not houses. Tents are not homes. Tents cannot shelter anyone from the flooding. Flimsy fabric, worn out by the elements, overturned in the wind; a tent in winter cannot offer any warmth at all.
And now there are those in Gaza who don't even have tents. Even this most minimal thing, which is still not enough, is often unattainable.
What is this world that allows this to happen, to continue? How do we allow this? How do we stop this? What we are doing is not enough. How many more days, months, years will we allow this to continue?
Forced displacement, forced starvation, constant surveillance, violence, drones, bombs and shelling; attacks on everything necessary for life: water, land, schools, hospitals, people. No safety, no shelter, no break, no rest.
And those of us focused on trying to find and give support to those we can still struggle to find enough people who care, who will commit to doing something, who will give what they can. Why does anyone even have to ask, let alone have to spend so much effort asking, and even then it is not enough?
There are enough people in this state, in this country, in this world to make a difference, to give enough support to every person in Gaza, to demand and create the change we need, to end the genocide. So what will it finally take?
